While most patients do not experience bruising after cosmetic procedures, whenever injections are needed, bruising may occur. Fortunately bruising can be covered or minimized by makeup.
Also, to minimize bruising:
- Discontinue aspirin, Motrin, or similar products (NSAIDs) for one week prior to any cosmetic procedure. Tylenol is OK prior to the treatment as well as afterwards if you experience any discomfort.
- Discontinue vitamin E, St John’s wort, ginger, garlic or any similar supplements you may be taking.
- If you are taking blood thinners, please mention that with the doctor at your consultation and before each treatment.
- Many patients have found a supplement called Arnica to be helpful prior to cosmetics procedures. If taken, it may reduce the occurrence of bruising. Other products include Bromelein and Arnica forte.
If you are concerned about bruising, we suggest purchasing Dermablend or Covermark prior to your treatment with fillers or Botox. Both types of cosmetics offer superior coverage for bruising and redness. Dermablend can be purchased in many more locations around the city. Dermablend and Covermark can be customized to match your individual skin type.
The products can be purchased at the locations listed below or online if you are certain of your unique skin color. Make-up can be applied directly after most cosmetic procedures.
