Since it was launched in 1996, RESTYLANE® has
undergone extensive histological and clinical studies with an increasing
body of evidence relating to its ease of use, tolerability and effectiveness.
Today, more than one
million treatments have been successfully carried out worldwide,
as documented on the Restylane web site.
These kinds of wrinkles are caused by aging, sun damage and genetics
Other fillers that we currently use include Radiesse™ and Sculptra™. For some patients, fillers are not enough, and surgical
or other procedures are necessary.
Allergic reactions are uncommon with Restylane®, but in the uncommon
event a patient can have redness, inflammation, bumps or other symptoms
that generally resolve, but may be long–lasting. In order to minimize
any discomfort, we use topical anesthetic, or cream applied on the treated
area and left on the skin for about an hour. Sometimes it is necessary
to inject anesthesia, especially for Restylane treatments around the
lips.
After the treatment, there can be some swelling, bruising and redness, which usually
goes away within a few hours, but can last a few days or more. Makeup can be
worn immediately after the treatment.
Immediately, but sometimes touch-ups are necessary within two to four
weeks.

Yes—many patients want to help other wrinkles on their face by having Botox® Cosmetic treatments. Restylane and
Botox® Cosmetic treatments can often be performed during the same session.
Anyone who has an allergy to Restylane® or any of its components.
Restylane® is an FDA approved medication for the cosmetic treatment
of diagonal wrinkles between the nose and the lips. The FDA permits physicians
to use their professional discretion for the off-label use of products
like Restylane®. This means doctors can use Restylane® to treat wrinkles
in other places on the face besides the lines between the nose and the
lips.
Frequently, only one session is needed to see results.
